Witajcie, dziś krótko o ciekawym obiekcie który istniał tylko 2 lata…
Mowa o tzw. Wrotkowisku Olbrzymim, które powstało w 1910 z inicjatywy rodziny Stankiewiczów na działce wydzielonej z rozparcelowanego na początku XX w. gospodarstwa ogrodniczego braci Hoser, który znajdował się przy Al. Jerozolimskich pomiędzy ulicami Poznańską i Pankiewicza.
Na miejscu rozebranego w 1912 roku Wrotkowiska w 1913 wzniesiono kamienicę Dawidsona i Kadyńskiego, którą możemy podziwiać do dziś (druga od lewej od strony ul. Poznańskiej). Zresztą ostatnio wyremontowana, pięknie się prezentuje na tle południowej pierzei Alei. Dzisiejszy adres to Al. Jerozolimskie 49.
Co ciekawe, jak sami widzicie na starym zdjęciu (wielki napis na froncie budynku) wrotkowisko nosiło nazwę „The Monster Roller Skating Rink” – sami przyznacie, że jak na czasy początku XX wieku, do tego zabór rosyjski – nazwa wyprzedzała swoje czasy 
.
Możemy uznać, że nasze dzisiejsze centers, towers, plazas, etc. nie są czymś nowym w Warszawie i historia obcojęzycznych (a w szczególności angielskich!) nazw jest już dosyć długa…

Hello, today I will briefly talk about an interesting object that existed for only 2 years…
I am talking about the so-called Wrotkowisko Olbrzymie (The Monster Roller Skating Ring), which was established in 1910 on the initiative of the Stankiewicz family on a plot of land separated from the Hoser brothers’ garden farm, which was divided at the beginning of the 20th century and was located on Al. Jerozolimskie between Poznańska and Pankiewicza streets.
On the site of the Wrotkowisko, which was demolished in 1912, in 1913 the Dawidson and Kadyński tenement house was built, which we can admire to this day (second from the left from Poznańska Street). Moreover, recently renovated, it looks beautiful against the background of the southern frontage of the Avenue. Today’s address is Al. Jerozolimskie 49.
Interestingly, as you can see in the old photo (a large inscription on the front of the building), the roller rink was called originally in English (!) „The Monster Roller Skating Rink” – you will admit that for the early 20th century, and the Russian Partition at that – the name was ahead of its time 
.
We can assume that our current centers, towers, plazas, etc. are not something new in Warsaw and the history of foreign (and especially English!) names is already quite long…
