Ciekawostka, która w pewien sposób łączy Warszawę z odległym Cleveland, gdzie pierwszym drapaczem chmur był Terminal Tower, który od lat 30-tych do 1991 roku samotnie górował nad miastem na wysokości 235 m (2 metry różnicy względem Pałacu Kultury!)…
Radziecki architekt Lew Rudniew który zaprojektował nasz PKiN był w latach 30-tych w USA, gdzie na delegację wysłał go Stalin. Tam szczególnie do gustu przypadł mu Municipal Building, czyli ratusz Nowego Jorku, wzniesiony w latach 1909-1915 na Manhattanie. Rozłożysty gmach z wieżą i pozłacanym posągiem na szczycie ma 25 pięter, 177 metrów wysokości i mnóstwo elementów zaczerpniętych z architektury renesansu. Co ciekawe ten nowojorski budynek był także modelem dla wieżowca z Clevelend. Tu nie było przypadku, zarówno Terminal Tower z Cleveland, jak Manhattan Municipal Building są łudząco podobne do Uniwersytet Moskiewskiego i naszego Pałacu..

The Soviet architect, Lew Rudniew, who designed our Palace of Culture and Science, was in the USA in the 1930s, where Stalin sent him on a delegation. There, he particularly liked the Municipal Building, i.e. the New York City Hall, erected in 1909-1915 in Manhattan. The sprawling edifice with a tower and a gilded statue at the top of 25 floors, 177 meters high, with a lots of elements from Renaissance architecture. Interestingly, this New York building was also a model for the skyscraper from Clevelend. There was no coincidence here, both the Cleveland Terminal Tower and the Manhattan Municipal Building are confusingly similar to the University of Moscow and our Palace…
